The Restore recently received a large quantity of Antique Heart Longleaf Pine wood. This wood is from the most regal of pines Pinus palustrius. It is a very slow growing tree taking, in some cases, up to 400 or more years to mature. The typical height of the tree at maturity is between 80 and 120 feet. Longleaf has a high resin content. It is the strongest, densest, and hardest of the pines and the reclaimed wood is generally harder than southern red oak. It is a very stable wood and makes excellent flooring or furniture. The Restore received this wood from a house being demolished.
